These sessions are a ‘must do’ if you would like to improve your cycling technique and / or conditioning for next season, and are suitable for all abilities.  Here are some answers to the ‘frequently asked questions’ that we are often asked:

  • If you don’t have a turbo trainer, no problem as you can use one of Kings Centre’s spin bikes
  • If you buy a turbo trainer, you do not need to buy an expensive or sophisticated once and £150 will get you a great suitable trainer – however, it must be a )
  • We cover cycling technique, where being on the Turbo means we can do drills safely without risk of falling off!!
  • Drills include single leg pedalling to improve smooth pedalling and control, fast spinning to condition muscles and neural pathways, turning big gears to improve awareness of applying equal force around the whole of the pedalling stroke
  • All this contributes to much improved and more efficient technique
  • Drills are included in the training sessions similar to our swim sessions to practice good technique consistently
  • Training is low intensity at this time of year to develop your aerobic endurance base and the very best thing to do at this time of year
  • Training intensity builds up during the winter – IF you want it to!!If you don’t fancy the hard stuff, that’s ok because you can go as hard as you want and limit the effort to your needs as you won’t get left behind in the room!!
  • A session on the turbo is like doing time-and-a-half on the road, so you can benefit from some good quality cycling in a safe, light and warm environment during the winter evenings
  • If an hour is too long, no problem, carry on until you reach your target time and then cool down
  • The sessions are coached and there is always good advice and help on hand and any question can be answered or concerns covered
  • Sessions are very varied and designed for ALL abilities, from complete beginners to the very experienced because you won’t get bored or left behind and makes for a good social evening
