A wet Bank Holiday weekend! Do I get the bike grimey or write the News?

So, better start with a belated thank you to the incomparable Dave Pawsey for helping to haul my sorry backside around the Burgess Hill Sportive a couple of weeks ago! Despite my lagging behind up the many hills he managed to get us to a podium finish – at least I'm going to claim a Bronze time as such! Meanwhile Steve Ingham was denied Gold by the insistance of the Cowman on stopping for croissants in Forest Row! Putting up with Daisy for that length of time deserved better than a Silver finish to my mind?

Congratulations to Pete Holley for organising a splendid East Grinstead Aquathon and many thanks to all who came along to help out. The new gazebos got an airing as did our rather magnificent new Finish arch – a shared resource with Hedgehog Tri and MSTC! There should certainly be no one at the tri in May who asks where the finish is anymore!

The WGP concludes in April with the final three events; 20km TT on the 3rd, Hill TT on 10th and the grand finale triathlon on 23rd. Currently Fran Davis leads the Female Vets and Simon Neave the Male Super Vet whilst the other categories require competitors to get out on their bikes to qualify! Our estimeed Chairman will be in charge of the TT on Sun 3rd as I am unavailable. Dave Mycock has agreed to assist but we could probably do with one more volunteer please? Event is at Bones Lane so meet at Horne Golf Club at 8.30am for warm up with first rider off at 9.00am for four laps of the course.

We will be running two Race Recce events in advance of the EG Triathlon this year and for the majority of you its the 30th April one that will require volunteers to ride the bike courses and/or run the run leg please? This is always a popular event with our many novice racers and is part of what gives the EG race its excellent reputation so if I could ask that you all come along that morning?

Of course you all have the Race w/end itself burnt into your memories – but just to help those less gifted its Sat 7th and Sun 8th May! Assistance on the Sunday is a prerequisite of club membership, so save yourself an embarassing midnight knock on the door from some purple clad avenger by letting us know now that you are willing to help out!

Think that's all for now?

Train safe...
