My thanks to everyone who took part in the WGP 2016 Swim TT last Saturday and particularly to those who helped with counting and timing – couldn't do it without your support! Mr Chairman wanted in particular to congratulate those for whom the distance was a first or at least not a regular part of their training regime! Of course there have to be winners and the wine goes to Tim Coogan and Emily Miles – no surprises there! I would like to personally congratulate John Gallagher for winning the Male Super Vet category – thus depriving Martin Darlison of a victory on his first race in such an august age group and also enabling me to maintain a lead over him in the overall standings, at least for another couple of weeks! The Chairmans Special Prize goes to Kat Pearce- a fantastic improvement over Oktoberfest rewarded with a super consistent swim- to quote from His Majesty! Full Swim TT results on the website

Next up – the infamous WGP Swim/Run on 20th February! A 500 metre swim followed by the run to the Feldbridge Hotel and back, expect snow/rain/hurricane force winds and very pink legs! Race to take place in the 7.25am session so come early if you don't want to take part or are of a nervous disposition!

Martin's February Training Guide has just gone out and contains some excellent advice and in keeping with that, and as a bit of practice, the 2nd Sunday Ride this week will be an easy jaunt around the WGP Hill TT course – but without timing the TT bits! Meet at Kings ready to depart at 8.30am and don't worry that its Valentines Day – I won't expect a card! Should be finished around 10.30am so back in time to make the lunch if that's your plan? Don't forget that the 2nd Sunday Ride in March is the 56 mile version of the Burgess Hill Sportive – enter online and see you at the start?

Before that I've got Brighton Half Marathon so if anyone fancies sharing a lift and the Park and Ride cost then get in touch? Plenty of places to eat on the seafront whilst you wait for me at the finish!

Don't forget the EG Aquathon on 20 March and EG Triathlon on 8 May – both dates should be imprinted on your memory along with the words “Yes I can help with that!”
