Plenty to remind you of this week – mostly because I've made a proper list to follow when writing this! Could this be the first of my many New Year resolutions that I'm actually going to follow at least once? The one about regular, planned training is already in tatters which of course means the “lose the Xmas belly” won't happen on its own!

Anyway, sit up and pay attention and here we go......

Club memberships are now due and don't be surprised if Cathy and/or Michael start asking for additional payments for your swims and core sessions on Saturday mornings! Soon of course, if you don't pay, you'll be receiving a late night knock on your door as we send the boys round!

Don't forget your t-shirt for swimming and your off-road shoes for running afterwards this Saturday. The following day its 2nd Sunday Bike Ride and I'll be at Kings for an 8.30am departure – a couple of hours perambulation around the local roads with one or two hills thrown in because its that time of year! On Saturday 16th Alex will be giving us a yoga session at 7.45am as Kim is away. At 9.15am that morning there will be a short meeting for those interested in being involved in setting up a junior section for the club – see you there?

January sees the start of the annual Winter Grand Prix club competition. For those who are new to the WGP this is a series of single and multi-sport events we run over the early Spring to allow an amount of competition into your training. There is a scoring system that I'll be happy to explain if necessary that decides the trophies – but essentially you come along and try to beat everyone else in your age group (so same as any triathlon really?). The Vale Gallop 10k off-road run on 24 Jan is the first event and this is followed on Sat 6 Feb by the 1000m swim TT. The swim is part of that mornings session so you can turn up at either 6.30 or 7.25 and take part.

Andy Peel wants me to remind you that he is now fully qualified to provide nutritional advice for racing and training and I know some of you have already been in touch with him. Lorraine sent out a note recently regarding the new on-line club kit shop and you need to have ordered by the end of January for a March delivery date.

Finally for this week make sure you have the following dates in your diaries; 20 March EG Aquathon – either race or volunteer to help (see Pete Holley) and 8 May EG Triathlon - 1st year members can race but everyone else is expected to volunteer (see Cathy Walsh or expect to be press ganged!)
