Start this week with some thank you messages! Thank you to everyone who gave up their time to run an Oktoberfest session last month – Martin and Emily, Alex, Darren, Andy, Steve and Nick plus last weeks Captains Liz and Mike! Thank you also to all of you for supporting the events and I trust you all gained some useful knowledge and insight that will help you in your 2016 training and racing?

Of course I’m not entirely sure what we all learnt from last weeks Rounders Rematch – other than some of us are more skilled with a knife and fork and a full English than we are with a bat in our hands? The result went the way of Liz’s team, unsurprisingly, although I believe the TMO is still studying footage of her last winning run as there has been an allegation of bodily interference – although Mike didn’t complain at the time as it’s the only close physical contact he’s had in a while! Suffice to say we called it a day before things got out of hand and retired to have a friendly breakfast and recall Ted’s glorious smiting of the ball!

This Saturday we are back to standard swim sessions so feel free to come at either 6.25am or 7.30am. Of course if you come to the later set you will miss out on Core which this week will be led by Jan whom some of you will recall stepped in for Kim previously? Kim is also away on Sat 28th Nov and on that morning Alex is going to give us another try at yoga to follow up on her popular session in Oktoberfest. Look forward to seeing some of you at both?

This Sunday (8th Nov) is 2nd Sunday Bike Ride. Be at Kings in time for an 8.30am departure for a couple of hours of easy paced riding around the local area with time for a coffee afterwards. I’m on domestic duties that morning so still sorting out a leader (although I don’t believe I ever get to actually “lead” the ride after we leave the car park?) but that should be fixed by Sunday!

Finally, the Club AGM and Prize Giving is on Saturday 28th November at 9.00am in the Pavilion. Your chance to have a say in the running of the club, congratulate those who won prizes in 2015 and enjoy a free bacon butty and coffee - vegetarian alternatives available for the weird ones amongst you! This would of course normally be the social highlight of the year but it pales into insignificance next to the glory that is the Club Xmas Party on Saturday 5th December. This week is pretty much your last opportunity to pre-book at the reduced price rate and, as they say, when it’s gone is gone! Clearly neither Stuart, nor his chief wrangler Nick are going to go away until you have all booked – so do yourself a favour and choose your menu and pay your money!
