Lots of muddy fun @ Deers Leap last Saturday morning – thanks to all those who came along to keep me company! Sorry I had to disappear so quickly although I was around long enough to see Liz McLennan (correct spelling) make a serious attempt to win the Topsy Turvy (aka Crash of the Year) prize! You’ll have to wait till the Club AGM on 29th November to see if she’s been successful – frankly I think we have a winner ladies and gentlemen?

And talking of winners, the following names where drawn from the Chairman’s mighty hat for places in the 2015 EG Triathlon (10th May 2015 in case you’ve not got it in your diaries yet?) – Ted Swift, Fran Davis, Louise McKechnie and Roger Taylor – congratulations and I trust you’ll see this as reward for your help at the EG10k recently? You will need to pay the standard entry fee although I’d suggest you liaise with Mike Cowell/Michael Diebel regarding registration. Please advice Mr Chairman direct if you do NOT want your place as a decision will then be made on re-drawing amongst the other victims/volunteers!

This Saturday sees the Grand Finale to this years Oktoberfest – a no-holds barred game of Rounders on the field at Kings! I’d suggest a pair of off-road shoes and possibly some form of “protection” for the male participants? The aforementioned Liz McLennan (correct spelling) and Mike Sutton are providing the specialist equipment (quell surprise?) and some approximation of the rules – although my understanding is that its very much like Fight Club if you know what I mean? Team briefings at 8.45am for a 9.00am chuck-off or whatever you call it?

Sunday 26th October is East Grinstead Aquathon and hopefully you have either volunteered to help or entered the event thus giving those marshalling someone they know to abuse (as opposed to the Roger Taylor method of shouting abuse at any random member of the public).

Following on from that, Joan Wingfield is organising a Novice/Easy Bike Ride aimed at the less experienced/less fit cyclists in the club. The session will include some coaching in bike skills followed by a led ride of around 60 minutes. Meet in the car park at Kings at 10.00am – although it would be helpful to advise Joan in advance if you are intending to participate – joan.wingfield48@gmail.com

Think that’s all?
