Welcome to East Grinstead Triathlon Club

East Grinstead Triathlon Club is a long-standing club based at the King's Leisure Centre in East Grinstead [Moat Road, East Grinstead, West Sussex RH19 3LN]. [King's is also known as the Olympos Leisure Centre]

The club's main session is the Saturday morning swim session which starts at 7:25AM [7:00AM on the first Saturday in each month]. For club members a swim session is £4, although it's free for first time prospective new members! Non-members pay £6.

There is often a coached run session after the Saturday swim session. Although there are no coached cycle sessions some members ride together.

The club also has use of 2 lanes of the King's pool on a Thursday evening at 7:00PM.

During the winter there is a club "turbo" session on Wednesday evening 7:00PM. The turbo session is also at King's - you'll need your own bike and turbo! During the summer there is a monthly bicycle Time Trial at Bones Lane.

Annual membership of the club is £30. Currently we have no junior section and members need to be 16 years of age and over.

If you are interested in joining why not come along to one of our swim sessions on Saturday morning and join in or just have a chat!

Proving that at least some triathletes are good runners, East Grinstead Tri Club won the first team prize at the Epsom Oddballs Perch. Neil Smith was third finisher overall, supporting him in the team was Tim "boy" Lucas [11th] and Noel Miles [13th].

There has been a wave of triathlon nostalgia in recent times, with British Triathlon celebrating their 25th anniversary and some clubs and events reaching the same milestone of late. The East Grinstead Triathlon Club is one such club and from its modest beginnings with just 55 competitors in its first event, will be celebrating our 25th Anniversary East Grinstead Triathlon on 16 May 2010 with a limit of 500.

In order to make this year's event a bit special, the club is looking for some help in tracking down those original 55 competitors to take part in a ‘Class of 86’ category in this year's race or to just come along and reminisce.

If you did compete in the 1986 EG Tri, or might be able to contact anyone who you think did (the standard profile is; late 40's at least, grey/no hair, distinct haunted look from too many miles, rides a steel bike with toe-clips and still wearing dayglo spandex!), please contact us via  This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and we will be delighted to hear from you.

Please be quick though as the event is filling up fast. Race details are on egtri25.com
